I got this to do a video on Krita but I don't know if this going to be good for my brain. Clipping a layer I couldn't even find that at all. EVERYTHING IS IN MEMU!!! Why? like merge down a layer should just be a button somewhere on the UI not something you have to hunt for. I tried to find some good in this program but this program gave me the biggest headache looking for all the normal features I use when drawing. While these are all kind of minor gripes I find the lack of polish on basic features in all the years this application has been sat in my library disappointing. Microsoft Paint has a better Text tool than Krita. Can't resize text boxes, nor do they respect white space and they require typing in a separate window which by default takes up half the screen. Krita is happy to dump scale/rotate/position/shear under the Transform tool though. Move tool is smart enough to tell you when you can't use it on vectors/layers but not smart enough to switch between them or just be one utility that lets you work on both. Two sets of tools for making polygonal selections and brush strokes instead of just making them toggles. Granted, I'm not a painter and these applications serve different niches but for basic colorization of lineart and image manipulation it seems like it should be able to handle these better. Got Krita because competition in open source image software is great but every time I give Krita a chance I'm left disappointed at how inferior I find it compared to GNU Image Manipulation Program.
